And this increased my affinity for Psychology and my Experiential learning led me towards achieving my Master's in Counseling Psychology. Most of our fears arise from our childhood experiences or some difficult experiences during the lifetime. These experiences shape our personality and we tend to behave in certain ways. For the concern mentioned in the query, one can manage toxic behaviour of people by using 2 techniques A) Boundary setting B) Assertive Communication
Most of the times people do not seek therapy due to Shame, denial or Fear. Describing this to them is necessary that's it's natural to have such feelings but it's not healthy to stay with such feelings and keep going through turmoils of life. It's important to educate them about how the process of counselling can reduce their issues & empower them. 3 things are important in therapy - Willingness, Active participation & taking Responsibility of your actions So just like we do things for our physical health, therapy is for mental health & if counselling is needed then seek help without guilt, shame etc
